Jobs at St. Luke's

JOBS AT ST Luke's, Maidstone

We believe we’re in a new season of growth at St. Luke’s and that God asking us to join Him in doing a new exciting work in our town, beyond and in our time.

Our Vision

To be a church family who LIVE for Jesus and LOVE one another, LEADing to transformed lives and communities. We long to see Maidstone and beyond transformed by the extravagant love God has for all people. As His church we want to pursue Him in worship and live our lives, to build His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Location and History

St. Luke’s is located close to Maidstone town centre, with easy access to the M20 and within easy reach of the Kent countryside and coastline.

The church has historically been closely connected with church renewal movements of the last 30yrs and the church family remains deeply rooted as an evangelical charismatic ‘Word and Spirit’ church. Our leadership has strong links with New Wine. As a church we attend the national New Wine United summer festival and our leaders attend the national leaders conference. As such we would want anyone joining the St. Luke’s staff team to have experience in and an openness to the gifts of the Holy Spirit both in their personal faith and working practice for mission and ministry.

Everyone is welcome to join us at St. Luke’s. We are a multigenerational church who want everyone, no matter what age and stage of life to grow as a follower of Jesus and who are deeply committed to making more followers.

We’ve experienced significant growth over the last 2 to 3 yrs. Under new leadership, with a renewed vision and growing Core Team of amazing staff and volunteers, we are seeing prodigals returning, new people coming to faith and new people joining us for the first time. We are growing as a church family. It’s exciting and we’re also about to embark on a new project to refurbish our spaces and build some new ones. Currently we are a church family of around 250 adults and 90 children and young people. We regularly see over 150 adults and 40 to 50 children and young people each Sunday. God is good and growing His church.

Our Mission

Our mission field in Maidstone is huge and we believe God is sending His workers into and for the ‘harvest that is plentiful’. A conservative estimate would calculate that approximately 98% (116,000) of the population in Maidstone have little to no connection with the church or Jesus Christ. We want to rectify this! We are planning and believing for growth. As such we want to grow and develop our team of volunteers and staff to enable the whole church to be equipped for ministry and mission, wherever God places us each week.

CORE TEAM

Our core team currently consists of Gareth Dickinson (Vicar), Abs Oxley (Church Administrator), Mandy Parris (Finance & Bookings Manager), Robyn Trainer (Worship & Creative Pastor) and Phil Trainer (Operations Manager) and an amazing team of unpaid very committed volunteers including Melanie Williams (Church Warden), Tony Chadwick (Church Warden), Susan Ghinn (Team Chaplain), Clare Torrens (Pastoral Care), Robin Williamson (Clergy NSM), Brad Cook (Licence Lay Minister and HR) and Gemma Levett (Youth Team Lead). Over the summer we will be joined by Hollie Butler who will be our curate, and who knows, maybe you!

The Core Team meet weekly for worship, prayer and planning on Thursday mornings. The core team who serve the church throughout the week are supported by teams of volunteers and a PCC (Parochial Church Council) who ensure all appropriate and necessary governance is provided.
