History
September 2021, sees the start of the New Wine Discipleship Year (NWDY) at St. Luke’s. It was originally started by Gareth Dickinson in 2012, when he was on the leadership of Trinity Cheltenham and New Wine. NWDY is now in its ninth year and runs in 14 training hubs across the UK.
The nearest training hub is at St. Mary Bredin in Canterbury (33-mins from St. Luke’s), where it has been running for 7yrs.
What's Involved
Most placement options for DY students are part-time, but St. Luke’s and the SMB hub are running the internship programme in partnership with Canterbury Diocese and the Church of England Ministry Experience Scheme. This enables us to offer full-time placements at no cost to you from September.
A typical week on placement at St. Luke’s will involve meeting with the core team for worship, team meetings, and planning and delivering ministry. The teaching day in Canterbury is weekly on a Wednesday in term-time, when quality teaching stems from New Wine filmed materials, local speakers and church leadership.
St. Luke’s is a growing church family with members from all ages and stages of life. The successful applicants would be working closely alongside the vicar and core team for the year.
Internships Offered
You will be given the opportunity to serve and lead in a variety of areas, which may include: Worship leading, Kids Church, Youth & Schools Work, LIFE Groups, ALPHA, Admin and Digital Engagement. There is also the opportunity to go on a short-term mission trip towards the end of the academic year.
We hope you will join us at St. Luke’s for what will be a year of growth and transformation. If you’re interested we’d love to hear from you, please email Gareth using the form below.
