DISCIPLESHIP PRIORITIES AT ST LUKE'S

At St. Luke’s we’re passionate about making disciples of Jesus, who make disciples of Jesus.
Following Jesus should lead to demonstrating the extravagant and unconditional love of God to others. We want to boldly proclaim the good news that Jesus brings into every life and community.

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

To help us grow as disciples who help people come to faith and grow in their faith in Jesus we have 6 discipleship priorities that run through the life of our church.

6 discipleship priorities

Presence

Creating environments in our gatherings where we encounter the manifest presence of God.

Prayer & Scripture

Prioritising prayer, scripture and intimacy with Jesus, in both our common life and individual lives. Sitting at His feet and talking with Him.

Power

Being bold in inviting the Holy Spirit to come, nurturing the gifts of the Spirit and seeing them worked out in our every day lives.

Proclaiming

Encouraging one another to intentionally share the Gospel in WORD and ACTION in all contexts, leading to people coming to a personal faith in Jesus.

Practical Help

Responding to the genuine needs in our community by helping people physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and financially.

Planting

Growing the wider church through resourcing and planting new churches and revitalising existing churches currently in decline.

At St Luke’s, we commit to nurturing one another in these six discipleship priorities. So we pray…

God of mission, who alone brings growth to your church, send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions, joy to our worship and power to our witness. Help our church to grow in numbers, in spiritual commitment to you and in service to our local communities. Through Jesus Christ our Lord
