May Update

Thank you so much to those who attended our annual meeting either in person or online on Monday evening 28 April. It was a great evening hearing stories of God at work, live’s being transformed and an opportunity for us to look ahead.

I’m delighted that Donella and Tony have been re-elected as our Church Wardens and we welcome back Anne Cole and Carole Tyler to the PCC. We also welcome Megan Baker as a new member to the PCC as a representative of our young adults.

If you were unable to join us at our annual meeting, please do pick up a copy of the summary of our finances for 2024 and also an overview of the finances for our building project. Copies are available at the connect desk.

Some headlines from our annual meeting as we look ahead to the coming year include:

  • Embedding our 6 Discipleship Priorities across our church life.
  • Better maintain our buildings and site with a part-time Caretaker.
  • Continue to explore opportunities to help revitalise and grow other churches.
  • Appoint an Operations Manager 4 days a week. This role is fully funded for 12 months through our national Church resourcing church SMMIB grant, after which funding will tail off over four years.
  • Introduce an additional weekly celebration to create more space for new people.

On the 12th of May I’m delighted to let you know that Sean Van Pletzen will be joining the staff team as our new Youth Pastor. Please do pray for Sean and his fiancé Hesna, as they get married early May. We will be praying for Sean and Hesna as they join us on Sunday 11th of May.

This Sunday we start our new teaching series going through the book of Philippians. We’ll be spending 10 weeks exploring the JOY/FULL Christian life with all of life’s challenges, learning from the teaching of the Apostle Paul.

Why not take an hour to read through the letter to the church in Philippi in preparation for our teaching series?

Let’s be praying that as we study Philippians together on Sundays and in our LIFE groups that are eyes are opened to God’s truth as we seek to live the joy filled life in Jesus.

With God’s love and blessing,

Gareth

P.S Don’t forget to join us for Kingdom Come prayer next Wednesday 7.30-9.00pm in St Luke’s House.
