What is Alpha?

Do you have questions about life, God, the universe? Then Alpha is for you.

Alpha is a weekly course to explore, ask questions about faith, life and its meaning.

Usually each session includes some food, a short video and a discussion where you can chat through your thoughts and questions with a small group of people.

When is the next course?

The next Alpha course at St. Luke’s will be starting on Tuesday 29 September 2026 7:30-9:30PM. The course will be held in the church itself, with a meal served for free at 7:30PM, followed by a series of videos and discussion groups.

What To Expect?

Alpha is an informal way of finding out more about the Christian faith. There are groups with leaders, but conversations are allowed to flow freely and any question or is OK to ask.

At our evening courses there is usually a home-cooked meal and it’s a chance to get to know other people in Maidstone, before watching a video that explores different questions about a faith each week. After this, we spend some time in groups discussing the topic.

Everyone is Welcome

If you have never been to church before, you are welcome.

If you have done Alpha in the past but would like to do it again, you are welcome.

If you have different beliefs or background, you are welcome.

If you know nobody else, you are welcome.

If you have been invited by a friend or family member and would like to bring them with you, you are both welcome.

How do I sign up?

The next Alpha course at St. Luke’s is coming up in Autumn 2026, starting Tuesday 29 September 7:30-9:30PM and running until Tuesday 24 November, with a break for half term.
